ARC Read as part of Moony's Minions (Permanent ARC Team)
Firstly, this book is DARK! It has been dubbed as a Dystopian Erotic Horror and it is exactly what it says on the tin. PLEASE READ THE CONTENT WARNINGS FIRST.
So I am 90% sure that Moony Luve is trying to emotionally destroy me with her writing because this book gave me everything: Hate, Love, Anger, Rage, Revenge, Betrayal, Death, Violence, Pain, Hurt, Pride and Fighting For What You Believe In.
Set in 2100, the world is on the brink of ruin and one woman rises up, rallies the people and is willing to take it back by force, even if she has to burn it all down first. There is political intrigue, violence, grief and a fight to take back the power from those in trusted positions who have been abusing it for years.
This book definitely made me think about the way our world works and that there may be some truth behind the plot lines (but that's just me speculating) I would gladly stand by Alpha in a heartbeat and that connection to a character is really something else. Although we don't delve into Alpha's back story too much, there are things about her past that are mentioned and really resonated with me as a woman and as a mother.
I think there is definitely more to this story and these characters that could be explored in further books (but I think it was written to be able to be continued).
Centring the story around a strong woman, who is supported by her truly devoted husband (Bravo is a total vibe and I love him), her best friends and the voice of a nation that has been betrayed after the world has taken from her in the most brutal of ways, makes this book a masterpiece of emotions and tension and I fucking loved it.
There is spice and it is not just 1 chilli hot, its some spicy spice. There are definite elements of kink between the morally grey power couple that is Alpha and Bravo. (Again, check the content warnings first)
I would highly recommend this book to anyone that loves dark, twisted, violent plots with a good sprinkling of spice. The feminine rage element is undeniable and I think Tyranny is truly something different than what is out there right now.
5 Star read for me easily and I give it 3.5 chilli rating for the spicy spice.
