On February 14, c.sun16 emailed his teacher, but he made a typo in the email address. He emails t.sol.18 by accident. After the short exchange, you'd think the story has ended, but this exchange becomes a yearly tradition. It also became a competition to see who can email each other first on their day. The rules are simple. No contact outside of February 14th. No pics, real names, and nothing too personal or identifying. This goes on for years until they wonder... what if they met?
The Exception to the Rule is an adorable romance. As the story unfolds, you learn more about the characters lives as they share more and more with each other. Will they meet and fall in love? You'll have to read to find out. There is almost no spice in this book. It only eludes to sex. At 101 pages, it is perfect to help you finish that year-end reading goal. This is free if you have Amazon Prime. No KU needed. If you listen to the audiobook, do yourself a favor and read along with the Kindle version. Sometimes listening to the email headers gets confusing and monotonous.

This was such a cute story! I listened to the audio and the two narrators did a great job going back and forth as Tara and Callum.
I really liked the email based banter and being restricted to only their emails for much of the book. It made it that much mroe special when we panned out and got to actually spend time with them in narrative.
Toward the end I wanted to push Callum a bit when it bordered on becoming creepy how long he let the rouse go on, but he swooped in with a fun reveal just in time for me to not yell at him.
