So Much Forever
As they enter into Easter Week and their highly anticipated spring break, the couple looks forward not only to quality time with their daughter, but also seek to carve out some long-overdue time to reconnect with each other.
One last errand stands in the way of that, however, during which a chance encounter and random act of kindness immediately plunges them into an illusory world in the making long before this moment.
When Phoenix, in turn, comes face to face with a life-and-death scenario, she battles those who people this world, determined to save her family before the odds favor her no more.
In this third installment of the gripping Phoenix series, award-winning author Jafe Danbury shines a light on the myriad ways in which survivors come to grips with their ordeals and the environments in which they do it.

This book was incredibly well-written! It's the first time I've read a domestic abuse story from a man's perspective, and I'm really glad Jafe Danbury explored that angle. Many men experience abuse from women, but they often feel too ashamed or embarrassed to report it. It's time to break this stigma.
Richie endured both mental and physical abuse from his wife for about 2 to 3 years. She wore him down in every possible way until he became a broken man, a mere shell of his former self.
Jafe skillfully evoked empathy for Richie. I felt his anguish deeply, and it also stirred up anger within me.
Knowing that this was Jafe's own story, I appreciate the strength it took for him to write it. I hope it provided some closure for him.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone—definitely check it out!
Description:
He took his vows seriously. So did she. Especially the 'Til Death part... It's 1992, and Rich and Tami have a fantastic future ahead of them as husband and wife: he as a technical expert behind the Hollywood scenes, she an up-and-coming actress. They both have drive and ambition and, knowing life isn't always fair, are willing to tough it out to succeed. But is that enough? Does working in a town run on secrets and backstabbing doom any institution requiring trust and loyalty? On the outside, this beautiful couple present an enviable façade, including their ability to stick it out when the going gets tough. Behind closed doors, however, their struggle includes keeping the noise down so the neighbors aren't privy to the pitched screaming, the hurled objects, and the soul-crushing cage fight happening next door. Complicating matters already far from simple is that the aggressor here is the 105-pound wife against her strong and capable husband, who is all too aware of the stigma surrounding "ordinary" victims of domestic abuse, let alone the male partner. Rich has no intention of being a victim, not in his own estimation and not in the eyes of a society with an aversion to weakness, particularly in those appointed to act as its protectors. Will Rich's closely-held secret result in his demise or will he escape the cycle of abuse--and at what cost?

Rich thinks he's found the one with Tami. They have everything: a new home, a dream wedding, and each other. However, things aren't always as they seem. Things get dark very quickly and the escalate into a cat and mouse game that will rip them apart.
This was a tough read at times, but only because the topic of abuse is not an easy one for anyone. The author approaches it with so much care and respect. I really connected with the characters and as the story ramped up, I got so worried what might happen.
I'll definitely have to check out more of his work! A tough, but very engaging read.

Danbury’s writing is both poignant and brutally honest, forcing readers to confront the uncomfortable reality that abuse knows no gender.
This is a must-read for anyone who appreciates a well-crafted, thought-provoking narrative that challenges conventions and stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page. Jafe Danbury has delivered a stunning, unforgettable novel that deserves every one of those five stars!
