“She doesn’t belong to him; she belongs to the crown.” Michael is destined to be king and Sara his queen, but his brother Tristan has other ideas, and so does Sara.
The Lion King if Scar won. The MMC and FMC battle is out for the true lead role in this one. Another beautifully written dark romance with twists and turns and spice that will make your toes curl.
The character interaction is quite brilliant in this one and the royal setting was new for me but very enjoyable. Although Tristan is meant to be the bad guy, he is actually the real hero and trying to lead his people to a better life. Michael is just a self-important prick who thinks because he’s going to be king, he can do and say what he likes with no repercussions.
The side story line of Tristan and Simon, the child of a maid who looks remarkably like his brother, is heartwarming. The way he cares about this boy as if he were his own and wants to do right by him even if his brother isn’t willing to admit he has a bastard heir, ties into the plot of Tristan being the saviour of the people wonderfully.
Again, just the right mix of spice and plot, morally grey characters and a familiar, yet twisted story that makes for excellent reading.

If you're a fan of dark, twisted romances that reimagine classic tales, "Scarred" by Emily McIntire is a must-read. This book takes inspiration from "The Lion King" but ventures into a realm of royal intrigue, passion, and vengeance.

Set in a 1940s-inspired monarchy, "Scarred" follows the tumultuous lives of two brothers vying for the throne. The elder, Michael, is the beloved king-to-be, while the younger, Tristan, bears the scars of both body and soul, living as the outcast prince. Enter Sara, a cunning and beautiful woman betrothed to Michael but harboring her own vengeful agenda. As Sara and Tristan's paths intertwine, they embark on a dangerous dance of deception, passion, and rebellion, challenging the very foundations of the kingdom.
