Whispers in the Wine Cellar
- Keeley Webb

When you first read the blurb for the book by the author, well at least my sick twisted mind, thinks oh this is the start to a good joke. The premise, which initially might conjure thoughts of a punchline involving a florist, an estate agent, and a prostitute, quickly converts into a deeply engaging storyline that intertwines the lives of its characters in unexpected ways. It’s an insanely well thought out, well written, gripping exploration of human experiences and the dark implications that lurk beneath everyday life.
I admit, this did not contain the epic plot twist, AHA moment at the end I typically go for. But honestly, it didn’t need it. From the beginning, the novel holds your interest with its rare structuring, presenting the story from multiple perspectives allowing readers to gain insight into the thoughts and motivations of multiple characters, all of whom are unsuspectingly connected by the disturbing actions of a villain who hides in plain sight. The decision to reveal the enemy early on is a refreshing twist that unshackles the narrative from the typical whodunit design, allowing us to focus on the mystery of the guilty party.

Readers are invited to plunge themselves in the unfolding drama and character development with them being richly described, each grappling with their own challenges and vulnerabilities. Webb cleverly depicts their struggles, making them relatable and human. As the story progresses, readers quickly find themselves emotionally invested, often shouting at the pages, urging characters to re-examine their choices or to escape their disastrous situations. I am awed by Webb and her ability to take these situations, explore them to the darkest depths of mental health complexities and societal pressures that lead the characters into such extreme and dangerous situations.

Whispers in the Wine Cellar is a briskly paced thriller with enough urgency that keeps the reader moving forward while allowing moments of reflection on the lives of the characters. It allows for deviation from the typical psychological thriller mindset by not focusing solely on plot twists and surprises, but to engage with the emotional journey of each character exploring their vulnerability, resilience and impact of trauma adding to the depth of the story taking this to more than just a simple thriller. Webb’s true storytelling prowess is in the spotlight here as she takes a dark subject and presents it in a way that is not only thought provoking, but also compelling and psychologically thrilling.

Now, it’s up to you to find out how far our villain gets by reading Whispers in the Wine Cellar. Sorry, no spoilers here ladies and gents, I believe if you have read this far then the book has already intrigued you enough for you to pick it up and read it, you just need confirmation to do it……...so, what are you waiting for?

As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation by the author, present or future, for my review.

I'm not one of those authors that reviews their own work! I am one of those clumsy people that accidentally marks one star on their own book! Yikes. Unable to erase the rating, this was my only option.

I was promised cheese, and a lot of it, so there’s really an abundant lack of cheese throughout this story. However, the author did make up for it with a very sick and perverted main character, who has taken a course in medieval torture, it seems. If you’re looking to meet a twisted, devilishly handsome man, look no further than Edward Rigley. He’ll make you regret every decision that led that point!

And for those not led to this book with the same cheese promise, now wondering what the heck I’m talking about, this was the book description I was given

Books told from multiple points of view are probably one of my favorites. I read this book because I whole heatedly support indie authors and self promoted books. Keeley did an amazing job. I felt the anticipation and enthusiasm of "what's next" if not for work and adulting I could have easily devoured within hours. This quick read is told from the killer, the girls, the wife, detective and mothers point of views. You get everything you need in these short chapters making it such a pleasure to read. Every curious question is answered, each life is brought to light from their past to present. Highly recommend.

This is my first book by Keeley Web and it won't be my last! I must mention that this is a dark story full of brutality towards women, so beware...this is your warning.

With that being said, I obviously didn't have an issue with the TW, as this story captivated me from the first page to the last. The story is downright crazy—in the best way possible! Keeley's ability to craft a chilling and unpredictable storyline is impressive. Told from multiple points of view, the narrative offers a deep dive into the minds and backstory of the characters, making the suspense even more intense.

The florist, Edward, with his charming exterior and love for flowers mask his twisted motives, making him truly terrifying. His psychological manipulation and torment of his victims add a layer of horror that is both compelling and disturbing.

The suspense builds up perfectly, leaving you guessing about the fate of the women until the very end. If you're looking for a gripping read that will keep you hooked, this book is definitely worth picking up.

Local Florist Edward is a catch. He’s got wealthy and supportive parents, his own flower shop, and a wife and child. However, the flower shop is more of a hunting ground than a place to buy a bouquet. As he pulls helpless women into his twisted world, his only rule is “compliance.” There are severe punishments handed out for infractions to this rule.

The author pulls you in and does not let go! Every little struggle and every little push against his rules made me feel so nervous for the women. I had to keep going just to see how this would end!

I can’t wait to read more from Keeley! This was a great introduction to her work and I highly recommend it!

A really well written, fear inducing story. My favourite type of writing style, it was captivating and fast moving. This book was heart-breaking in places but I loved the multiple POV chapters and the intensity. Some great characters and one so disturbing you won't be able to look at any handsome charmer without worrying what is behind their smile! I look forward to reading more from this author. Great Read!

A Gripping and Unforgettable Thriller! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Whispers in the Wine Cellar" by Keeley Webb is an absolute masterpiece in the psychological thriller genre. From the very first page, I was hooked by the intricate plot and the chilling atmosphere that Webb masterfully creates. The story revolves around a skilled florist who uses his charm and flowers to lure his victims, weaving a tale that is both horrifying and mesmerizing.

The characters are well-developed and complex, each with their own backstory that adds depth to the narrative. The tension builds steadily, keeping you on the edge of your seat as you follow the desperate search for the missing women. Webb's writing is both poetic and haunting, making it impossible to put the book down.

What sets this book apart is its ability to evoke a range of emotions—fear, empathy, and suspense. The twists and turns are unpredictable, and the ending is both satisfying and thought-provoking. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers, "Whispers in the Wine Cellar" is a must-read. Keeley Webb has truly outdone herself with this one!
