This book was way darker than I expected and honestly, I couldn’t put it down. From the very first sentence, I was completely hooked. Nancy Tucker wastes no time throwing you into a story that’s equal parts disturbing and heartbreaking.
It’s told from the perspective of a child who’s done something terrible, and the way Tucker writes it is so raw and real that it gets under your skin fast. I thought I was picking up a dark psychological drama, but this went much deeper exploring loneliness, neglect, and the desperate need for love in a way that really sticks with you.
It’s definitely not a light or easy read, but it’s one of those books that makes you stop and think long after you’ve finished. If you can handle a story that’s dark, emotional, and a little uncomfortable, this one’s absolutely worth it.
