THIS IS PART OF A VERY DARK/PITCH BLACK SERIES OF HORROR STORIES – READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS FIRST AS THESE BOOKS ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE

I fucking loved this. Madelyn’s story is probably the best I have read so far in the series (I was reading them in order but jumped a few that I intend to go back to).

After a tragic start in life and again, another set of vile parents that don’t deserve to any remote slice of happiness, Madelyn is yet another unloved, mistreated child of the group that Savannah wishes to seek revenge on from all those years ago. Her father is a cheating scum bag; her mother blames her for his actions and yet she got pregnant hoping it would keep him around and stop him from wandering. Gifted with another porcelain doll, Seraphine, Madelyn exacts revenge on those who torment her and those who tormented Savannah.

Corvin is the dark and broody love interest with tattoos and scars that only make him more attractive. The way he instantly loves and cares for Madelyn is beautiful and yet painful as she isn’t sure she deserves to feel the way he makes her feel. The fact that he calls her Vespera – meaning evening star, is also tragically beautiful as he’s describing her like the twilight not only because of her looks but how her darkness is just there beginning to show.

Amaya has written this perfectly, it’s a wonderful mix of love and darkness, as well as graphic gory horror that we expect from this series.

The twist in this story is just spine tinglingly gorgeous and I had an inkling but wasn’t 100% sure I was right about it.

Another fabulously violent edition to the Nightmares on Lull Lane series and I look forward to reading the rest of them.
