I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with a book titled The Author by Jeff Scott. At first, I wondered if it would be an autobiographical account of a day in the life of Jeff Scott. Haha.
In all seriousness, "The Author" is a rollercoaster of suspense, ideal for aficionados of thrillers with a psychological twist. Have you ever considered the consequences of a writer becoming a bit too fixated on online reviews? This book offers a revealing—and chilling—exploration of that very scenario.
Ian Walker is on the brink of literary stardom but has one minor hiccup—he's hopelessly addicted to his reviews. The man spends more time refreshing his Facebook group pages than penning his next bestseller. When his critics start dropping like flies, things escalate quickly.
Jeff's storytelling is remarkable! You’ll find yourself flipping pages like a speed-reading bookworm, trying to anticipate each twist and turn. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, Jeff delivered a twist that left me gasping and clutching my Kindle. That twist was absolutely jaw-dropping!
Adding to the story's authenticity, Jeff cleverly integrates real-life authors and Facebook groups into the storyline. One particularly amusing moment describes "the breath the air was holding"—a testament to Jeff's playful yet suspenseful style.
The Author is not merely a thriller; it's a psychological labyrinth.
If you're in the mood for a book that will twist your mind and tickle your funny bone then don't miss out—make sure to grab yourself a copy!

Nope, sure didn't see that coming. The Author is such a fast and fun read. Bringing in other authors, Facebook and the awesome Thriller community. Jeff made this a captivating read by making it such a personal adventure. The twist at the end is absolutely crazy but completely makes sense! Certainly a must read.

This story follows Ian who is an author, as he navigates his life and feelings while a dangerous killer starts violently picking off reviewers who dare to leave him negative reviews on social media.
I liked this book. I found it to have detailed and almost poetic descriptions of situations and feelings. It also doesn't waste time, if the detective needs to follow a lead, they are immediately where they need to be to make that happen.
There were plenty of references to real and popular FB Thriller groups and to well and lesser known (for now) authors as well. There were definitely some satirical parts which nicely broke up the serious parts.
I recommend this book if you're familiar with the FB Thriller groups and the shenanigans that go on in the "bad" one. Also, if you enjoy a good twist and want to read an exciting thriller this book is for you.
3.5 ⭐ and rounding up.
