To Burn in Rapture
One look and he broke all the rules. One drop and she was his. What if the Roman gods were real, and one of them broke one of the cardinal rules of being a god? Never give a mortal god blood ... One drop is all it takes for a human to become immortal.Sabine has had enough. God or bust is her new motto. It's been nearly 3000 years, and she still hasn't found a way to be with the god Janus, who saved her millennia ago. She will do whatever it takes, including sacrificing her latest husband to the god of the Underworld, to bring him back to her.Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and endings, has distanced himself from Sabine for centuries. He won't fall for her tricks. Janus doesn't care that she's married. He wants her to be someone else's problem-if she's someone else's problem, she's not on any other gods' radar. With Sabine hell-bent on going against Janus's wishes, she finally finds herself in the world of the gods-just not with the one she's fallen for.

Sabine and Janus are sinfully hot together and I was shook as I delved into the story.
Sabine is put through a lot before Janus, God of beginnings and endings, shows up and breaks godly rules to help her. Cue millennia of pining, angst, and a murderous FMC who longs to be with her immortal God.
The forbidden love trope is strong with this one and I couldn't get enough of the story. Some parts felt a little slow and others felt rushed but I did enjoy the flashbacks to different parts of history and how Sabine navigated them. A really good story and I can't wait for book 2 of the Gods trilogy

This book was delightfully wicked. A dark romantasy novella with Roman Gods, a stabby FMC and a love that could survive millennia.
Janus and Sabine are the epitome of soulmates, bound together over thousands of years against all odds.
Janus is 7ft of pure Italian bronzed hotness, he is a God after all. He only has to follow 2 rules, do not be seen by humans and do not give them your blood. And what does he do? Breaks them both in a heartbeat to save a woman from a fate worse than death at the hands of Roman Soldiers. Their dynamic is brutally romantic and it is clear they would burn the world down for each other. He is dark and brooding, yet warmth, kindness and compassion towards this woman.
Sabine is passion and sass in one beautiful little package, her outlook on life and death is actually quite refreshing (considering her situation). And her love for this man, this God of Beginnings and Endings, is beyond mortal, beyond human emotion alone.
R.A Raine has written this so well, the back and forth between ancient times and the present day works perfectly to unfold their story. The way the characters connect and interact with each other is simple yet deep and full of passion. There is emotional turmoil throughout due to the circumstances our MC's find themselves in and this just added to the grip the story had on me.
I loved reading this and am grateful to have been given the opportunity as an Advanced Copy.
Perfect for an afternoon curled up with a good book. I would recommend this to anyone that loves fantasy romance with plenty of emotion and spice.
I definitely give this 3 chilli's for spice rating as there's quite a bit in this novella.
