I had the pleasure of being an ARC reader for Thrills and Chills: A Halloween Anthology. There are some seriously talented authors in this book! We’ll need to start a support group after finishing!
The Zahnfee by J. B. Arnold
Halloween night, Bryan and his sister Addyson get dressed up and celebrate in style. However, one of their neighbors tells them to be wary of the Zahnfee. I felt like I was sitting in their dark bedroom with them. Excuse me while I go brush my teeth again!
Motor Yacht Persephone by Hayley Bernard-Ryan
Justine and Blanche are taking the holiday of a lifetime on a mega yacht. Their every need is taken care of and it couldn’t get any better. The rest of the chartered passengers arrive just in time for the Halloween celebration to begin. However, someone on board has another idea. Agatha Christie meets Friday the 13th!
Haunted Asylum by Elisa D. Daniels
April and her friends are out celebrating Halloween in style and decide to visit a haunted house. What starts out as a bit of fun wildly descends into terror pushing the boundary between life and death. I already don’t like haunted houses and this story will keep me out of them for a lot longer!
Cosworth Manor by A.V. Donaldson
A couple books a relaxing stay at an old house in Connecticut. They both like a little scare, so the place is perfect with lots of activities like seances, graveyard tours, and fancy dinners planned. However, things do not go as planned and it’s clear things are definitely not what they seem.
The House of Rot and Ruin by Rachel Graham
Digby will spend the night in a haunted mental hospital (Suicide Palace) on All Hallows’ Eve for his show. What could possibly go wrong? I know I personally will avoid any hospital visits for a long time after this!
She Came Back by Mark Jenkins
Paige lives the glamorous life in New York. However, one day a mysterious photograph appears that leads her back to her childhood home. Upon arriving, Paige finds that her mother now lives with company from Paige’s past. Four friends hear a story about a girl named Terri who died of a drug overdose years ago at their college. The girls decide to use an Ouija board to contact her and solve the mystery. However, things don’t go as planned and the girls are thrown into an even bigger mystery. Sometimes the spirits really do know better.

Baron and Laura never seem to be able to do better than second place in the local Halloween decoration contest. He has his own style and Laura rarely gets to join in. However, this year things will be different. Baron and Laura will do whatever it takes to win. Anything.

In 2065, civilization has changed. Women must be married. Any single woman are kept as maids and cooks until they find a husband. Every Halloween, 3 young girls are sacrificed in a ritualistic hunt. The “little Red Devils” must survive the night. All hope seems to be lost. Is there any way to break out of this viscous cycle? Can the women be saved?
This book reminded me why I enjoy anthologies so much! The stories in here had me looking around corners and sleeping with the lights on!

Fun and creative. Perfect Halloween tale something I would let my YA/teens read. Fast pace and kept you interested. 4 ⭐
Story 2 Motor Yacht Persephone Hayley Bernard-Ryan-
Loved it. Certainly captivating and different. Takes you on a classic who-done-it tale with a twist you don't expect. 5 ⭐
Story 3 Haunted Asylum Elisa D. Daniels-
Heart pounding and eerie! Elisa tells an amazing pulse pounding tale. Grips you and doesn't let go! 5 ⭐
Story 4 Cosworth Manor A.V. Donaldson
Who doesn't LOVE a good B&B. Add some spooky vibes and it will suck you in for the best of times. I wanted to visit this B&B. Themed dinners and events sound amazing. 4 ⭐
Story 5 The House of Rot and Ruin Rachel Graham
Love me a good haunted Asylum! Old abandoned buildings are amazing and fascinating. This brings all the Sam and Colby vibes. I can't wait to let my daughter read this story! 5 ⭐
Story 6 She Came Back Mark Jenkins
Not at all what I was expecting. I LOVED IT. Mark is one of my many favorite authors. His short story is remarkable. 5 ⭐
Story 7 Trick or Death D.J. Maughan
I absolutely love witty banter and humor. D.J is full of it. I greatly enjoy how different this one is from they typical Halloween themes. It is perfectly placed in this anthology to give it a nice break up. Fantastic story and I can't wait to follow more of Hank and Joyce. 5 ⭐
Story 8 Séance Brooke Montoya
Friends are the best. College days are days to remember in so many ways. Brooke always brings back the good old days (90's early 00's). Reading her stories is a trip down memory lane. 5 ⭐
Story 9 Ornamental M.A. Savino
Melissa is a top fave!! Everything she writes is an automatic buy. Such a great short story. One that is perfect for Halloween. Anoka Minnesota is a HUGE Halloween town so this tale is so perfect and just 20 mins south of me!
