Spellbound in the Stacks

Book One of the magically romantic and smutty Spellbound in Thistleton series!

Faelene Carey owns Ink & Parchment, a bookstore in the small New England town of Thistleton. Not only is she a successful businesswoman, she's secretly a witch who can transform into a cat. It's not that she minds it, there's just one problem. She must find true love before the 13th year after her first transformation or else be cursed to spend the rest of her life as a cat.

Subjecting herself to the hell of dating apps and blind dates, Faelene is stuck in a hopeless tailspin toward tongue baths and a diet of mice.

Thistleton firefighter Aidan Kennedy, stops by Faelene's bookstore like clockwork. She's had a crush on him since the first time he walked through her door. He's polite and gorgeous but incredibly stoic. Try as she might, Faelene can't seem to break through Aidan's tough exterior.

Aidan is holding onto his own secrets. It isn't until he rescues Faelene in cat form from a tree, that she begins to understand what makes him tick. With the covertly discovered information of Aidan's mutual crush, she hatches a daring scheme involving both her human and cat forms in order to get him to open up.

With Aidan's secrets unlocked can Faelene make a move in time to see if he's her true love? Or will she be doomed to be a cat forever?

This book was such a blast. I giggled, gasped, and thoroughly enjoyed Faelene's journey to break the curse and find her true love.

The banter between her and her bestie Eric was relatable; my bestie and I sass each other all the time. The overbearing and ice queen of a mother made me roll my eyes but I liked the resolution between mother and daughter near the end.

I loved the build up between Faelene and Aidan. They've harbored feelings for each other for two years. Faelene giving him book recs and Aidan serving as her eye candy.

I usually don't like dual or multiple POVs but K's approach to her characters was lighthearted and fun. Aidan's chapters were cute, as you see how anxious Faelene makes him and how he toes the line between respectful and downright sinfully sexy. Faelene's chapters share her worry about finding her true love but after she and Aidan finally give into their attraction to one another, the chapters venture into how Aidan makes her feel and her struggle with how to share her secret.

I swooned at Aidan's words, I squealed during the spicy scenes, and I cried after the Fire Ball scene. For the book babes who love witches, romance, and spice, this is the book to get ❤️
