THIS IS PART OF A VERY DARK/PITCH BLACK SERIES OF HORROR STORIES – READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS
This is the first book in the series that is solely horror, there is no romance, no spice and definitely, no HEA.
Briar is a straight up bitch; a mean girl and her parents couldn’t be prouder. She gets good grades, is popular and their perfect little princess. Well, she was.
This book is based on the 3 Blind Mice nursery rhyme but is a lot darker and more twisted that just cutting off tails with a carving knife.
The way the story builds with the scratching in the walls, the tastes and smells and the transformation of our FMC is just brilliance. This is my first time reading Ellie Sanders but damn she can write some unhinged horror.
It’s a nice take on the classic perfection is just a façade storyline, with our FMC’s outsides transforming to match her dark and corrupted insides.
Even though there is no spicy storyline in this one, it gives me everything and more I want from a horror story. There’s violence, a monster, revenge and justice, then peace for the creature that just wanted to be herself.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend to those who like darker reads.
