After reading Blanka I came to the conclusion that Blanka is a spoilt little brat, she reminds me of Veruca Salt, remember the song, I want it now? Yep, that is exactly how Blanka acts. She has six other sisters but she is the only demanding one out of the seven girls.
The story was short but good, with a great moral at the end. It was written in rhyme and the illustrations by Kirsteen Harris-Jones were lovely, my son loves looking at the pictures to see what’s happening, and what emotion Blanka was feeling in each image.
Although my initial thoughts about Blanka as a child was not good, I did enjoy the story and I am looking forward to reading more D.M. Mullan’s Curious Tales with my son.
