Wicked Rockstar: A Fake Dating Workplace Romance (The Wicked Series)

There’s a fine line between sacrifice and surrender—I’ve sacrificed everything to get to where I am, but surrendering her to my lifetime rival was the one choice I’ve always regretted.

I clawed my way to the top of the rock scene with nothing but raw talent and ruthless ambition. Ten years of sold-out arenas, wild nights, drugs, and a different woman in every city didn’t do anything to numb the loss.

I never expected Trissa to walk back into my life. Now she’s asked me to do the unthinkable—be her dating coach so that Peter, my ex-best friend, will finally fall for her.

I can’t say no to those big sapphire eyes and her sweet, practically magical innocence.

What she doesn’t understand is that my attraction, my desire, my possessiveness over her—it never went away.

Or that giving her up a second time will break me.

As our “practice dates” blur the lines between pretend and passion, Tris starts to see the manipulative man Peter truly is. And I give in to the hope that maybe she’s finally looking at the right man.

The problem? Peter suddenly wants what he claims to be his and I’ve never been good at sharing.

Killian and Trissa’s story is a deliciously spicy, emotionally—charged rockstar romance featuring a grumpy, morally ambiguous billionaire musician who’s secretly soft for one woman—his plus size, sunshiney childhood friend who’s about to discover that the man she’s been chasing isn’t the one worth catching.

This is not your mama’s Peter Pan and Tinker Bell fairytale… because we all know Tink would have had a lot more fun with Hook.

I really wanted to like the story but it let me down. As a fairytale retelling of Hook and Tinkerbell, I expected a bit more, especially since Tinkerbell is a sassy queen.

The three main characters (Trissa, Killian, and Peter) maintain a seemingly unbreakable bond until Killian disappears. With no explanation but Peter, Trissa convinces herself that she loves Peter and stays by his side for 10 years in an unrequited situation.

Fate leads the three to reunite and Trissa grows tired of Peter's lack of interest and decides that asking Killian for dating lessons just to turn around and date his former best friend is the answer. I cringed and rolled my eyes. The way Trissa is written irritated me; she has no backbone, gaslights herself into believing there was a chance with Peter, and is rather naive.

Killian agrees to help his dream girl but develops feelings for her. Once he begins to show her what it's like to be with a man who truly values her, Trissa finally opens her eyes. If she had been written with more of a backbone or a bit of sass/fire, I probably would have enjoyed the story more. It was left too late in the story and I had to pause several times to soothe my annoyance. But I give credit to Trissa when she finally had enough and made Peter be accountable.

I ADORED Killian and admired his tenacity. He worked hard and became a successful musician. His patience and affection for Trissa had me blushing. I would have appreciated him immediately lol. But he had his flaws too. The communication on all sides could have been better regarding the past.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
