I really loved Tangled Past. From the first chapter, I felt like I was right there on Hope Island with Asa, carrying around the same questions he’s been holding onto for twenty five years. His search for answers wasn’t just about solving some mystery. It was deeply personal. You could tell how much his father’s death shaped who he became.
And Maya completely won me over. Finding out she was the little girl discovered hiding in that barn, with no memory of what happened, just made everything hit harder. Watching her slowly uncover parts of her past while danger starts creeping closer was so emotional. I honestly just wanted to protect her.
What really stood out to me was how Asa and Maya’s relationship grew. It didn’t feel rushed or dramatic for the sake of it. It developed through quiet moments, honest conversations, and shared fear. You could see the trust building little by little, which made it feel real. By the middle of the book, I was fully invested. I wasn’t just reading about them anymore. I was rooting for them like they were actual people.
And the suspense? So good. I thought I had everything figured out more than once. I was sure of it. And every time, I was wrong. I never would have guessed who was behind everything from their childhood. The reveal genuinely surprised me.
This book kept me fully invested because I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know the truth. I needed to see them find some kind of peace. Tangled Past isn’t just suspense. It’s about healing, trust, and finally facing what’s been haunting you. I loved it from start to finish.
