After the Quiet

Emily James won't easily admit that she is haunted. In fact, for the past three years she's been trying to live the life of a normal nineteen year old girl. But when an unassuming phone call prompts her to return to her childhood home, a place that had not easily let her go, Emily's quiet life slowly starts to unravel. Plagued by a recurring dream, Emily must come face to face with old memories and insistent ghosts that have been trapped in a house whose walls hold secrets of their own. And when she meets Sam, the friendly, rambunctious boy now living in her old house, Emily knows she cannot outrun her past. What is the mystery that surrounds Emily's departure three years ago? And does Sam, who bears an uncanny resemblance to a boy she had loved for most of her life, have the answers to the questions that may ultimately lay all of Emily's demons to rest?

After The Quiet is a beautiful debut novel written by Melissa Josias about nineteen year old Emily James revisiting her old home town which she moved away from three years previously because if she didn't her family were worried she may not make it.
Three years ago her best friend Elliott Lacey passed away and her life seemed empty, she avoided speaking about Elliott to her new friend for fear she would break. It's time to face it all again when her family decide to visit the Lacey's for a few days only for Emily to find out that the Lacey's are finding it difficult to move on too.
Emily faces a lot of demons that have plagued her since Elliott's tragic death and going to the place where it happened helps her a lot once she comes to terms with other things too. She also makes friends with Sam, the boy who has moved into her old house.
I thought this was a great novel, well written and kept me interested from start to finish. I would love to know if Emily and Sam stay in touch and if something good happens between them and where Mr and Mrs Lacey move to and what happens with everyone afterwards.
