This one is dark, twisty, and deliciously unsettling—the kind of thriller that keeps whispering don’t trust anyone while you keep turning pages anyway.
Kara McIntyre is a compelling “final girl” protagonist, forever defined by the night her family was brutally murdered. The story does an excellent job of blending past trauma with present danger, and the creeping dread builds steadily as cryptic messages and new murders blur the line between memory, guilt, and reality. The emotional weight of Kara’s survival—and her fear that it may run out—adds real depth to the suspense.
The atmosphere is where this book really shines: isolated, ominous, and tense in a slow-burn way that pays off with sharp twists. The family dynamics and unanswered questions kept me hooked, and the unraveling of Kara’s mental state felt believable and haunting.
It didn’t quite hit full five-star territory for me, but it’s a solid, chilling read with a strong final act and plenty of “oh no” moments. Perfect for fans of psychological thrillers, unreliable narrators, and anyone who loves a final girl story with teeth.
