My husband next door starts with a young woman being taken from the culprit’s point of view. Then we swing into Chapter One, where we meet Sylvie, the main character, her heavily pregnant daughter Jess and her husband Matt. They have an unconventional marriage, as they live next door to one another. We also have Brenda, a new resident to the street, who is a busybody and will not take no for an answer and inserts herself firmly into Sylvie and Jess’s life when they are unwell.
Meanwhile, another young woman has gone missing, and as things progress, the eyes start looking at Matt. He is rarely home, away from work, is it an excuse?
I really enjoyed reading My Husband Next Door. It is no secret that K.L. Slater is one of my favourite authors. I have read all of her books and loved them all. This one is no exception. Although this is the first book that I had managed to guess who the culprit was before the reveal. This did not deter me, though, as I am usually wrong, so it was good to get that confirmation, and I raised my fist in celebration, “Yes”
There were a lot of twists and turns, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes psychological and domestic thrillers.
