A Long Time Burning was a great book to read, it was so atmospheric, and creepy and turned quite dark during the last section of the book.
I didn’t realise it was the second book of the series but I don’t think it mattered. It was set at Christmas time.
The main character Nell goes to North Chase village for the holidays, there is a ghost hunt with a team at the manor, and Nell and Max both attend, this was what drew me into the book, I love watching paranormal investigations but also learning the history of the places that the hunts take place.
From there on things get spookier and spookier.
Nell, Max and Austin are all very likeable characters, Max and Nell’s abilities fascinated me and this was such a unique tale it kept me gripped until the end.
There was some confusion as the book changed from different characters and scenes part way through a chapter without dividers to make it clear we had moved on from the previous scene, but that is only a minor detail.
I will be grabbing book one shortly and I’m eagerly awaiting a third book.
