Sienna Osiris is living a life that is not her own; her formidable, ice queen of a great-grandmother rules with an iron fist and betrothed Sienna to a popular noble. As Sienna prepares to fulfill her duty to Kymeris and the crown, one trip to the forbidden South Sea changes everything.
Jasper Rivers is desperate to save his kingdom and people as their powers fade. He lands at the South Sea and finds the woman prophesied to help him save Larnithra. Sienna is skeptical as she and the citizens of Kymeris were told stories of the Fae but when Jasper's words and old secrets line up, Sienna agrees to help.
I loved the character development of our FMC; Sienna grows from naively following her formidable great grandmother and doing what is expected of her to a woman with her own thoughts and capable of making her own decisions. Jasper inspires that change through actions towards her and others that are noble and protective. He never forces Sienna to do anything and demonstrates patience I wish I had.
The minor characters were fun, the setting was easy to imagine. The only critique I have is that the book had a couple typos and could have been edited one more time. But it was a fun story and I can't wait for the next book!
