Wrong Choice

Sorensen stacks the table with a cast built on shared history, messy friendships, and lived-in experiences. Every character earns their seat. Even the ones you grit your teeth at. Especially the ones you grit your teeth at. There is one character in particular I would gladly push onto the roulette wheel and let fate have a long, thoughtful conversation with them. These people do not just exist on the page. They reach out, grab your nerves and emotions, and tug. Hard.
The emotional pull here runs deep. Trauma, grief, love, loyalty. All of it churns together like a deck of cards being aggressively shuffled. And yet, beneath the damage and fear, the story keeps circling back to one truth: strong bonds can keep you standing even when the floor feels rigged against you.
Atmosphere-wise, Wrong Choice slips its arm around horror and pulls it close. The descriptions are vivid and claustrophobic, like stepping into a room you know you should not be in but cannot stop yourself from entering. Sorensen has always been good at mind games, at sending readers down twisting paths, but this one is darker. Heavier. The kind of dark that lingers and waits until the lights are off.
The pacing is quick and clean, the transitions smooth enough that you barely notice time passing until you realize you have read the whole thing in one sitting. I did. This is a chilling, mind-bending story that will absolutely make me side-eye doors that disappear a little too neatly into casino walls from now on.

Woah. What a trip. “Wrong Choice” by Jessica Lynn Sorensen is an intense thriller horror that pulls you in fast and never lets go. Dark, brutal, and nerve-wracking, this story explores revenge, guilt, and the fight to survive. I will never look at a roulette game the same way again. The tension is relentless, the choices are horrifying, and I could not put it down.
