There was potential but I couldn't get over some of the depictions. I liked that Naima is proud of her Nigerian heritage and natural hair. She's driven to succeed and seemingly has a good head on her shoulders as she goes to college and works at the cafe.
Where things go left is the relationship the blossoms between her and Tim, the MMC. He should have been honest or broken up with his long-distance girlfriend before starting something with Naima.
The author's prose threw me off and I struggled with reading the story. Some of the depictions of the side characters gave off ratchet vibes and attitudes that I personally didn't care for.
