“The Wolf Behind the Veil” by J.B. Arnold is a 5-star crime thriller! Detectives Jenkins and Barrientos are hot on the trail of a trafficking and drug kingpin. Early in the investigation, they receive a tip that could lead to the biggest bust of their careers. The duo will stop at nothing to bring down The Wolf.

Another fast-paced and action-packed book from J.B. Arnold! This story is told across two timelines, with the present primarily following Detective Jenkins and the past focusing on Dao, a young girl forced to endure an unimaginable life. Because of the human trafficking involving children, some of the content gets quite dark.

This is the second book in the Detective Jenkins series. While it is not necessary to have read the first book, I would recommend it so you have more background on the relationship between the partners. Detective Barrientos has a no-nonsense attitude, and it is very enjoyable to watch Jenkins navigate their interactions. While I really liked The Hand of God, I enjoyed this book even more.

There was a teaser for the third book in the series at the end, which I skipped because I knew it would just make me want more! However, the fact that it was included is great news and hopefully means the wait for the next book will not be too long. I cannot wait for the next book to be released!

Thanks to J.B. Arnold for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC and share my honest review.
