This one pulled me in with such a fun and addictive concept. A podcaster diving deep into real murders, chasing the truth, and trying to bring justice to light. The way the story unfolds kept me hooked the whole time!

This was my first read from this author and honestly? Such a solid intro and I already know I’ll be back for more.

Written in Malice was my first book by Carly Black, and it definitely won’t be my last.

This was a quick, addictive read that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The mystery surrounding the journal had me constantly questioning what was really going on and, more importantly, who kept writing in it.

If you enjoy fast-paced psychological mysteries with an intriguing premise that keeps you turning the pages, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Overall, an excellent story and a fantastic introduction to Carly Black’s writing. I’ll definitely be checking out more of her books! 📖✨

I really enjoyed the opening chapter! It was a fantastic hook. Adding in Milena’s POV was a smart choice because it immediately pulled me into the story and made me want to keep reading.

One thing that threw me off was the investigation after Luka was captured. As soon as he insisted it wasn’t him, the detectives seemed to second-guess themselves pretty quickly, which made them come across as less confident than I expected. It made me question whether they really knew what they were doing.

The reveal that Milena was the one who shot her husband didn’t land as strongly as I think it could have. I was hoping for more of an emotional punch, but it felt a little underwhelming.

The majority of Part 1 where the they were trying to find Luka was also where the pacing slowed for me. The transition at the end of this part left me confused. If I were reading this without beta reading, that’s probably the point where I would have set the book down because I wasn’t sure where the story was heading.

I really enjoyed Dao’s POV. I thought the backstory added a lot of depth and was one of the strongest parts of the book. However, I suspected pretty early on that Dao and Milena were the same person, so when that reveal came, it didn’t have much impact. Since that felt like the main twist, I worry that readers who figure it out early may feel like the story loses some of its momentum afterward. It might be worth adding another surprise or misdirection along the way to keep the tension high.

Overall, I enjoyed Parts 2 and 3 much more than Part 1. Once the story got there, I felt more invested, the pacing improved, and I found myself much more engaged with where everything was going.
