Charlene Mattson knocks it out of the park again! “The North Has Roots and Bones” is the third book in her “Haunting British Columbia” series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. (Naturally, I recommend reading all of them!) Some of the characters from “Inheritance” and “Still Waters Rot” make a reappearance in this supernatural thriller, and I’m very glad to see them again. It’s always fun to revisit Kal and Raven to see what they’re up to. This book has a fun cast of characters- both human and supernatural alike- Eloise, Hayley, Simon and Adrienne each play a big part in this story. As far as the otherworldly creatures, well… let’s just say there are some that might make you lose sleep- but no spoilers from me!
This book has suspense, mystery, and a lot of heart. I highly recommend this novel if you’re looking for a chilling, fast-paced, spooky tale that doesn’t need gore to tell a beautiful, haunting story.
