I would eventually like to become an author myself. I’ve always enjoyed english and tend to be good at it. I like reading new books and think it’s really exciting to be able to read books before anyone else does!

This is my first time writing a review I was asked to write, I read this book as part of the ARC group. I don’t want to give out spoilers because I believe in reading it for yourself and finding out as you go along like I did.
First off this is a slow burn. If you expected/want a lot of action right away then this isn’t for you. A lot of information is given that builds up for a whole new world. At first I thought this was a werewolf love story (based on the title and the synopsis) but it is not that at all. It is so much more. There are so many moving parts and characters.
This story is about Amelia who finds herself living in a house with multiple types (‘types’ is a loose term) of people looking for somewhere to fit in. She finds herself befriending more loyal and kind people that she didn’t know existed (literally) and the problems that come with knowing these people. There is some hazing, some bad guys and she follows the guidelines she is told to handle these problems. It does involve a love story but not the frilly kind.
The first chapter was hard to get through, it didn’t really peak my interest and I found myself struggling to follow but once I got to the second chapter and beyond it all comes together and the story isn’t really about that first chapter at all but is needed to Segway into the better story. The first chapter focuses on the sorority that Amelia is apart of and without giving spoilers that situation is handled remarkably and I couldn’t have thought of a better way.
Although I will admit these chapters are long and could be broken up, there are so many details that truly paint a precise picture in your mind. The descriptions to get a little repetitive but does not take away from the story.
Amelia is human but there is a part of the story that foreshadows that she could be more. Maybe by her parentage or maybe by change. I really like how she just says “Not yet..”
When you get to the “smut” part of the book the author does a fantastic job of relaying how normal mundane things just simply don’t matter if the mood is right and how realistic things really are. Which occurs for the first time in Chapter 19.
This quote is one of my favorites when talking about how men put on a facade that isn’t always truthful “That’s just years of restraint and overthinking. Not experience”. Which is a quote from Oliver when talking about his sexual history.
There is a very good twist in Chapter 26 that had me in a very ‘Aha’ moment and that twist leads into the rest of how everyone comes together and foreshadows the sequel.
There is a song that is noted but as of 01/25/2026 I was not able to find it anywhere on the music formats but I hope to soon because the lyrics are *chef’s kiss*.
This was very long winded but I hope it helps in deciding to read this book. There are parts that are like oh my god can we get to the good part yet and then you turn the page and it’s there. Keep trucking on, it does get good just a slow burn with a lot of description and story building for more to come. I did enjoy this book but only rated 3 stars because of how long the chapters were. I feel like there almost could’ve been a prequel or a story of origin to this one but it is still very nicely written and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
