This is a review of the Advanced Readers Copy*

Very dark and twisty book. I found myself reading through quickly, as I wanted to just get the answers. Wish I felt more closure and definitive answers than what I was left with. I know that was the author's intention, so I can appreciate that she hit her mark in a way I've never felt before! Not sure if I'd consider it a thriller - more of an emotional mystery. A great book, amazing for a debut novel, and I look forward to following along in her journey!

This is a review of the Advanced Readers Copy. Thank you to Nicole and to Books and Bloom PR!

Moss and Mirrors by Nicole King is a dark, unsettling psychological suspense that explores cults, trauma, manipulation, and the blurred line between reality and perception. Quinn escapes one horrific cult after 15 years, only to question whether she’s truly been rescued—or simply collected by another.

The story starts slowly, but the tension builds beautifully, and the final quarter had me flying through the pages. I loved the growing sense that something was very wrong, with the unique writing style mirroring psychological unraveling as the pieces begin to fall into place.

I wouldn’t classify this as a traditional thriller—it’s much more of a psychological drama/suspense, and the writing style is definitely distinctive and may not work for everyone. But if you enjoy dark, disturbing stories about cults, trauma, manipulation, and unreliable realities, this is worth picking up.

This is my second book of Nicole's I've had the pleasure of reading this year. I'm looking forward to more!

Quick read that has you gripped from the beginning. Hauntingly beautiful and poetic. Can honestly say I've never read anything like it before.
