This was a fast paced thriller. I thought the story was creative and unique.
An unplanned Halloween party that goes horribly wrong. Because the serial killer their sister has been fascinated with learning has just escaped prison. At the halloween party, they decide to play a game of pranks where they call ransom numbers and just prank the person on the other end. But one of the calls get creepy when he starts describing what they are wearing. Then, The sister, Ashley is taken and party goers are being murdered.
While the story is unrealistic because it could not have been pulled off by one person, I thought it was intriguing. A serial killer with a motive. And the motive is.. well... it's sort of noble in a way, while being ridiculous at the same time. I love the contradiction.
The story has that 90's horror movie nostalgia. I loved that vibe. I thought it was a fun little read.

The Legend of Blackshore is book 1 in The Blackshore Trilogy series. This was a fantastic beginning to the series.

Autumn moves to Blackshore, a town known for pirate history, lores, and legends. It's said that this is a place where children vanish. Autumn learns whether this is all urban legend or truth when she is taken in spring of 1997. What she encounters in the cave is something dark, something that seems to have a plan. It injures her, but leaves her alive as part of the plan because the real target isn't Autumn. It's her boyfriend Jesse. Once Autumn is rescued and pulled out of the car, they realize, she isn't the only thing that returned from the darkness. Jesse hears the voice and what it wants. It's relentless and doesn't stop trying. It wants Jesse to kill his friends. if he doesn't, Autumn will pay the price.

The story was pretty captivating to be honest. I loved the whole spooky, pirate vibes. The pacing is consistent throughout the story, leaving you flying through the pages.

I thought Autumn was a pretty strong, brave, wise character. After everything she went through, she never backed down in the face of danger. I loved that about her. She's also very daring. The things that her and Jesse did, out in the open with no worries about being seen... I wasn't that daring at that age, so more power to her!

I think this was a great beginning to the series. I can't wait to get into the next book in the series.
