I really liked the setup and premise of this story. Susannah is a sympathetic protagonist, and her journey through the story is an interesting one. I thought the group of scary cleaner women were interesting antagonists, but I thought some of the reveals about them towards the end weren't as satisfying as I wanted them to be. Still, the very end was a nice wrap up. The Unbegotten is a solid, short scary story. I received a free copy of this story and write this review voluntarily.
Given Back
Wren BlackwoodI did not like this story as much as Sweet Delilah. I thought it was less coherent as a whole. Still, it was creepy, especially the ending. And I really liked the setting of the swamp.
Sweet Delilah
Wren BlackwoodAn atmospheric short story about a sin eater and a strange woman named Delilah. The prose was beautiful and grim, the images of bloating bodies nasty. Both Delilah and the protagonist were fascinating characters, as was the story surrounding them. I really liked this one.
