his story is one of psychological suspense rather than a fast-paced thriller. The short paragraphs and fragmented sentences add to the tension as the story progresses. From the beginning, the reader is curious about Quinn and distrustful of Gabe, the psychologist who is there to help the girls. You are constantly wondering what his end game is. The slow-paced narrative continues to build tension as the story progresses, causing the reader to turn pages faster as we try to determine where the story is headed. The swamp setting adds to the uneasy feeling the reader has as the story moves forward. Although I did enjoy the story, I feel like there could have been more to it. There was a lot of build-up and not a lot of payoff for the time I invested.
