I really enjoyed the plot of this book. The beginning of the story gave me West Wing vibes with its fast pace and clipped conversations. After a while though, the inner dialog got to be repetitive, clipped thoughts. Sometimes sentances and thoughts were repeated 2 to 4 times. 3% in, this sentance repeats twice almost in a row: "Like we didn't spend months trying to destroy each other's campaigns." For extreme example, the term "professional distance" is repeated 52 times in the book.
Through the first half of the book, there was hardly any spoken words between characters with so much just being their inner thoughts. Even the times Sean would text with Ava it was short and repetitive.
Overall, I really enjoyed the idea of this book, I just think it could've used some editing to clean it up.
There were alot of inconsistencies. Tucker would be driving home, then next sentance he'd be on an airplane. When Tucker did fly, it was the same information from one flight to the next. [Ex. He had to request a window seat.]
When Tucker was home, he talks about working for Sutton, but when asked if he works for Morrison, he confirms.
Twice Tucker answers calls from unknown numbers and they're from his dad and brother. Why wouldn't he have their numbers in his phone?
When at Tucker's parents house, Dean says "My parents are down the hall-"

I received an ARC from the author.
I really, really enjoyed reading this book.
This was my first book by this author. I understand it was second in a series, but I never felt like I missed much by not reading the first.
Jett and Ellis are messy, so very messy. They're both hurting in alot of ways. They fall into this whirlwind relationship by accident and both struggle with familial issues due to their relationship.
I appreciated the communication throughout this book. Even with never getting Ellis' POV, we tend to know how he's feeling because he's mostly communicating with Jett.
I don't think this book is overly spicy, and the physical scenes were mostly well written. There were some repetitive phrases [PA, geometric lines of tattoo, etc] that did get repeated a little too often, but didnt pull me from the story too much.
Overall, this is a book that will stick with me for awhile. I enjoy characters that have to work for their relationship and don't necessarily have the easiest past.
