I think this would be better as a novella. Other than the victims to hunters trope, I didn't really understand why they were doing what they were doing. I needed backstory and maybe an explanation from Phoenix to Kindred as to why they had to keep doing this.

Locksmith is a psychological thriller told from multiple points of view. The chapters primarily go back and forth between the lead detective and the killer. The tension level never lets up, but the pacing was a little slow for me which is why I subtracted a star. This is a dark novel with no light at the end of the tunnel.

There are zombies, then there are EVOLVING zombies! This book starts off fast paced and never slows down. As crazy as that was, around 75% in I'm pretty sure my pulse actually increased and I started to forget to breathe! Ms. Webb writes characters in a way that makes them so relatable and easy to picture that you become attached to them. Do I dare hope for a sequel?
