A haunting, emotionally gripping masterpiece, Sealed in Silence by Carly Black pulls you in from the very first page through the unsettling emotional connection you form with each character. From the moment the story begins, there’s an underlying sense of dread that seeps into every scene, making it impossible to look away.
Set within the chilling walls of Hillcrest Sanatorium, the story follows a young girl silenced while trying to expose the truth—and the deeper you go, the heavier that silence feels. Each perspective is layered with raw, almost suffocating emotion. You don’t just read what the characters are going through; you feel it crawling under your skin, their fear and desperation lingering long after each chapter ends.
There’s a quiet darkness woven throughout the story that builds into something deeply unsettling. By the time you reach the ending, it doesn’t just hit—it lingers. It’s emotional, haunting, and leaves you with that hollow, aching feeling that only the most powerful stories can deliver.
A fantastic quick read that doesn’t hold back, this installment in The Deadly Silence Collection is both chilling and unforgettable. Perfect for readers who crave something eerie, emotional, and impossible to shake.

The Dead Girls Club by Zia Rayyan is the kind of thriller that completely grabs hold of you from the first few chapters and refuses to let go. This was an absolute edge-of-your-seat read that had me flying through pages because I had to know what was going to happen next.
The story centers around a group of young women whose lives become intertwined through a chilling series of events connected to a growing body count and a mysterious killer. As the investigation unfolds, secrets from the past begin to surface, relationships are tested, and the tension builds with every chapter. The author does a great job weaving together suspense, emotional stakes, and shocking twists that keep you constantly questioning who can be trusted.
What really stood out was how gripping and fast-paced the story felt. The atmosphere is dark and intense, and the constant sense of danger makes it incredibly hard to put down. Every time I thought I had a theory figured out, the story would take another turn and pull me deeper into the mystery.
The only reason this wasn’t a full five-star read for me was the ending. While the reveal of the killer was surprising, it felt a little rushed compared to the careful buildup throughout the rest of the book. I would have loved just a bit more time spent on that final reveal and the aftermath.
Even with that small critique, The Dead Girls Club is a thrilling, addictive read that fans of dark, twisty mysteries will definitely enjoy. If you’re looking for a suspenseful book that keeps you guessing and makes it impossible to stop reading “just one more chapter,” this one is absolutely worth picking up.

Sanctuary of Silence
Tayler Vaughn★★★★★
Sanctuary of Silence by Tayler Vaughn is the kind of short story that grabs you by the throat from the very first page and refuses to let go. This is a gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller that I quite literally could not put down—I devoured it in under an hour, completely consumed by its intensity.
The atmosphere is chilling, laced with an unsettling, almost sadistic edge that keeps you slightly on edge the entire time—in the best way possible. Vaughn masterfully builds tension in such a short space, creating a story that feels both claustrophobic and deeply immersive.
And Sera… you can’t help but root for her. There’s something so raw and compelling about her character that pulls you in immediately. Even as the story takes darker and more disturbing turns, you find yourself holding onto hope for her, needing to see how it all unfolds.
But just when you think you have it figured out, the ending delivers a sharp, unexpected twist that hits hard and lingers long after the final page. It’s the kind of conclusion that makes you pause and just sit with it.
If you’re looking for a fast-paced, haunting thriller that you can devour in one sitting, Sanctuary of Silence is an absolute must-read.
